BC leaders pay homage to Sai Eshwarachari
Leaders of the Backward Classes (BC) on Thursday paid rich tributes to Sai Eshwarachari, who sacrificed his life demanding BC rights, reservations, self-respect, social justice, and equal opportunities, said Dundra Kumara Swamy, National President of BC Dal and Chairman of BC Reservations Sadhana Samakhya JAC.
At the residence of Sai Eshwarachari in Jagadgirigutta, Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council Mr. Madhusudhanachari, National BC Welfare Association President and Rajya Sabha MP Mr. R. Krishnaiah, former BC Commission Chairman Mr. Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, former IAS officer Mr. Chiranjeevi, intellectuals including Gujja Satyam and Arun, joined Mr. Kumara Swamy in paying homage.
Mr. Kumara Swamy consoled the family members and urged the government to extend full support to them.
Speaking on the occasion, he said:
“If Srikanthachari is remembered as the first martyr of Telangana’s second phase statehood movement, Sai Eshwarachari must be recognized as the first martyr of the BC reservation movement. It is deeply painful that in a democratic nation, one has to sacrifice his life to secure constitutional rights.”
He further said that although Sai Eshwarachari is no longer with us, his sacrifice would continue to inspire and strengthen the fight for BC rights.
Mr. Kumara Swamy expressed anguish over the alleged conspiracies to deny 42% reservations to BCs who constitute nearly 52% of the country’s population. “BC voters will give a strong response to this injustice,” he warned.
He demanded that the State immediately announce a financial assistance of ₹50 lakh to the family, and provide a government job to one of the family members. He also urged the Union Government to enact the BC Reservations Bill in the ongoing Parliament session, cautioning that any delay would leave the ruling leadership “condemned by history.”
