Women’s Empowerment Key to Social Progress
Blissberg – Future of Hope hosts International Women’s Day celebrations in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, March 7:
International Women’s Day celebrations were held with grandeur at Cyber Gateway in Hitech City under the aegis of Blissberg – Future of Hope, a prominent international organisation. The event witnessed the participation of distinguished personalities from various fields and honoured women who have made notable contributions to society.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, former Chairman of the Telangana State BC Commission, said that the progress of society is inseparable from the empowerment of women. “The development of a nation cannot be imagined without the empowerment and dignity of women,” he said.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of crimes against women, he referred to the findings of the National Crime Records Bureau, which indicate a rise in crimes against women compared to the previous year. Such developments are a matter of concern for society and call for collective responsibility to ensure safety and respect for women, he added.
Dundra Kumara Swamy, National President of BC Dal and the chief organiser of the programme, said that the development of women would lead to the overall progress of society and the nation. He emphasised that ensuring women’s empowerment is the responsibility of every citizen and called upon all sections of society to contribute towards achieving this goal.
Renowned music director R. P. Patnaik, who attended the programme as a special guest, observed that women play an invaluable role in human life in various forms — as mothers, grandmothers and caregivers. He said that respecting women should begin with recognising the sanctity of motherhood and the values it represents.
As part of the celebrations, 25 women from Hyderabad who have rendered distinguished services in different fields were felicitated and presented with awards.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Vinay Pandurang, Dr. Hari Kumar, Dr. Sudha Vani, Dr. Lakshmi, Dr. Harikrishna, Dr. Bhatia, educationist Meghana, singer Mamatha, Dr. Ramadevi, Prof. Rekha Dayal, Shashibala Rammohan Rao and writer Pavithra Sindhuran, among others.
The organisers said the initiative aimed at recognising women achievers and promoting greater awareness about the importance of women’s empowerment in building a progressive and inclusive society.
